Elementary School
Academic Brief

The primary goal at Eastgate Elementary School is to increase student academic achievement. Eastgate has formed a collaborative partnership with several community agencies and businesses to develop programs that will impact the learning experiences for our students. Teachers monitor student progress and implement instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning styles of students within the classroom . Academic Intervention Plans are developed for students who are not performing at expected levels and parents are invited to assist in developing the Intervention Plan. Eastgate Elementary School has highly qualified teachers and support staff who strive, daily, to meet the academic needs of each child. Parents are members of Eastgate's Instructional Team and are expected to monitor their child's progress, provide a quiet space at home for homework, attend conferences, visit classrooms , send supplies to school with their child and ask for assistance when their child does not show mastery of learning.
Vision Statement

At Eastgate Elementary School, we believe that all children can learn. We value individual differences in children and work to provide a successful school experience for each child. We encourage parental support and involvement as a key to student success.
Parent Involvement
Parents and guardians of Eastgate students are partners in the learning process. Opportunities for family involvement include: PTA, Welcome Back to School Ice Cream Social, Open House, family math night, family literacy night, parent-teacher conferences, parent workshops, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and 5th grade promotion ceremonies, winter and spring concert, and community outreach programs. Site Based Council
Eastgate's Site Based Council was formed in January 2015. The purpose of the Site Based Council is to function as an advisory body to the school leadership and staff, in developing, embracing and helping achieve the Vision of the school.
Since our inception the council has formulated our by-Laws, established the membership of the council and elected officers. Our meeting dates and times are the 3rd Monday of each month during the school year from 4:00-5:00 PM in the school conference room.
Our focus this year has bee the climate of our school and what we can do to help improve our school climate. As a result, we have experienced positive changes in the areas of student arrival and dismissal, our breakfast room, transition from the breakfast room to classrooms and recess times.
As our school makes the transition to a Health Science Academy, the Eastgate Site Based Council will continue to assist our parents, students and staff to help our transition to be a smooth one as we embark on this new and exciting chapter in the history of Eastgate Elementary
