Eastgate ES Improvement Plan

Academic Overview
The primary goal at Eastgate Elementary School is to increase student academic achievement. Eastgate has formed a collaborative partnership with several community agencies and businesses to develop programs that will impact the learning experiences of our students. Reading and Math Intervention Specialists provide instructional support for students and teachers. Opportunities are available for parents to engage in instructional workshops to learn strategies to use at home to support student learning. Teachers communicate student progress in a variety of ways and encourage parents to schedule appointments to discuss student progress, observe class instruction and share their academic concerns if they feel their student is struggling or not making adequate progress. The school psychologist, guidance counselor and nurse have scheduled days. Parents are encouraged to contact the school to leave a message for a return call.

We offer a rigorous curriculum in reading, math, science, social studies, health, physical education, art and music. Our curriculum is aligned to the Ohio Academic Content Standards. Students have access to technology and are provided opportunities to integrate technology across the curriculum. Every classroom has a Smart Board and students and teachers incorporate this technology into instruction on a daily basis. Teachers participate in on-going professional development opportunities, attend teacher based learning team meetings and offer one another collegial feedback on instruction.
